Making a documentary with the BBC
In August 2012 Wires & Wood were approached by BBC producer Karl Walker to participate in the new episodes of the Santer documentary series. We were delighted to be asked and had a great day down on the Auckland waterfront.
We spent the morning recording a couple of songs, with assistance from percussionist Mark Wilson and Karl on the desk. The Maritime museum has a good room for sound recording and after a couple of technical glitches we got some pretty good results.
We then proceeded out the old floating crane moored at the back of the museum, where we spent a fabulous sunny spring afternoon goofing about and miming what we had recorded in the morning. Each song was filmed about 6 times with different camera angles, close up shots, solo shots, group shots and we are looking to forward to seeing the final cut.
Our good friend and photographer Colin Gudgeon was on hand with his camera. He got some great still shots and there is a selection of them below.
